  • The year 2017 marks the 500-Year Anniversary of the Protestant Reformation (1517-2017) and so there are many events in 2017 that mark that anniversary.The Pope’s visit to Sweden in 2016 was a preliminary part of this and not necessarily THE major event of this 500-Year Anniversary; we spent a great deal of time on it previously because it was such a Catholic event and therefore of great importance for Catholics in terms of Lutheran-Catholic relationships and where they are today.

  • The attached Appendix, “Pope’s Address to ‘Luther: 500 Years Later’ Conference,” is a mainstream 2017 event in the Anniversary and so it is being made available to you.There are many other events in 2017, some already past and some to come in the future, and I will do my best to pass on to you the more important and the more meaningful ones from a Catholic perspective.



  • The latest issue of the Fatima Crusader (Winter 2016) dealt quite a bit with Pope Francis’s visit to Sweden near the end of 2016, seeing it through a very negative and extremist Catholic lens.Be aware of this because the Crusaders are not the only ones who see/saw this visit in this light!Below I will pass on to you some of the many negative quotations the Crusader used to speak about this trip.Please pray for such extremists that the Holy Spirit may enlighten them.Thank you!

  • The Fatima Center Rapid Response Team went to Sweden during the Pope’s visit in order “to defend the Catholic Faith.”This was unprecedented.

  • “Catholics [in Sweden] are a minority, and even more so those who adhere to the traditional solemn teachings of our One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic Church.Yet, by the grace of God and His Holy Mother, the team – led by Father Håkan Lindström singing Latin hymns and leading the Rosary, along with loyal Catholic volunteers from Prague [The Czech Republic], Sweden, and other parts of Scandinavia – processed for over an hour through the crowded streets close to the Lutheran cathedral.” (Coralie Graham, editor, “In Defense of Catholic Truth,” The Fatima Crusader, Winter 2016)

  • “For all of us who participated, we noted throughout the crowds not the animosity and heckling we expected, but it was as if the waters of the crowd parted in front of Our Lady and you could visibly see the look of awe on their faces as She passed by.We encountered only one radical group of students, dressed as popes, but the police swiftly provided us with a security guard of two officers on horseback, who followed us to ensure our protection.Unfortunately, someone from the Catholic Church – where we distributed leaflets to those coming out from Mass – called the police to try to stop us.The police, however, were very kind and allowed us to continue.

  • “We handed out thousands of leaflets to lay and clergy entering the papal Mass in Malmo.Very few refused and many read them intently.Just as we finished, the pope’s cavalcade drove only meters away from us.We held up one of our signs: ‘Don’t Hide Catholic Truth.’ I was just in time to videotape his arm waving and shout our parting words: ‘CONSECRATE RUSSIA!’” (ibid.)

  • Sweden is the best country for the celebration of the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation because “here you can taste much of the bitter fruits of ‘Reformation’ – an irreligious and thoroughly secularized society with widespread abortion, divorce and sodomy, gradually losing any sense (also due to its liberal immigration policy and multicultural madness) of its Christian and European identity … The church of Sweden, walking in the steps of Lutheran ‘Reformation’, is no different.It seems to be void of any specifically Christian content.A good number of their ‘clergy’ from top to bottom do not believe in the Divinity of Our Lord Jesus Christ or His Resurrection … The openly lesbian ‘Bishop’ of Stockholm Eva Brunne, who recently ‘divorced’ her ‘wife,’ speaks volumes about the level of diabolical disorientation that is affecting this particular Lutheran sect.” (Michal Semin, “Fatima Rapid Response Team in Sweden: Defending Catholic Truth Against the Errors of Ecumenism,” The Fatima Crusader, Winter 2016).

  • “You may ask: Should we, Catholics, be concerned with what is going on within the Lutheran milieu?There would be no reason if it was not Pope Francis himself who was telling the world that what unites us with these perverts is much greater than what divides us … Francis, typical of all the prelates with modernist mindsets would never dare to call Luther’s errors ‘heresies’.That is why we heard from him about mere ‘differences’ that must be overcome.How? By walking hand in hand, the path ‘from conflict to communion.’Silly, if not outrageous …

  • “Instead of reminding the present Lutherans that the necessary condition for achieving real unity is ‘the return to the one true Church of Christ of those who are separated from it’ (Moralium animos, Pius XI, 1928), he took an active part in an ecumenical event in a Lutheran cathedral (consecrated from Catholics in 1536), in a liturgy concocted by the Lutheran World Federation and the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of Christian Unity.

  • “Here he [Pope Francis] co-signed a Joint Statement, containing scandalous statements undermining the dogmatic teachings of the Church.Francis’ signature under the sentence ‘As we recommit ourselves to move from conflict to communion, we do so as part of the one body Christ, into which we are incorporated through Baptism’ is a clear rejection of the perennial Catholic teaching, well expressed by Pius XII in his monumental encyclical on the Church, Mystici Corporis Christi

  • “How can a Vicar of Christ acknowledge, with gratitude, the spiritual and theological gifts received through ‘Reformation’ when ‘reformation’ was nothing else than a revolt against the authority of the papacy and the Church, the sacrificial nature of the Holy Mass, Transubstantiation and the Catholic moral teachings?It is simply mind-boggling.And how can someone who claims to be a Pope, state the following: ‘With gratitude, we acknowledge that the Reformation helped give greater centrality to Sacred Scripture in the Church’s life’?

    “At present the situation is not rosy at all.After undermining the indissolubility of marriage and related truths in the recent exhortation Amoris Laetitia, Pope Francis is attacking, using ecumenism, the very foundations of the Church.Thus we find ourselves in a rather paradoxical situation – while we are defending the dignity and rights of the papacy, the Pope himself abuses the papal office to make us all protestant.This is diabolical disorientation in its highest form.” (ibid.)


  • “Francis has completed his ‘ecumenical journey’ to Lund, Sweden, where the long planned fiasco elicited nothing but yawns from the post-Christian Swedish populace.The press laughably reported that ‘hundreds’ greeted Francis upon his arrival at the airport … The whole affair, like ecumenism in general, was a game of let’s pretend.Let’s pretend that Saint John, following the mandate of Our Lord Himself, never ‘forbade any intercourse with those who professed a mutilated and corrupt version of Christ’s teaching,’ to quote Pope Pius IX, who condemned the ecumenical movement at its origin and forbade Catholic participation in it – for reasons that should be obvious today.”(Christopher A.   • “Let’s pretend that there can be ‘Christian unity,’ with people who trample on the Gospel of Christ, deny the papal primacy, deny the existence of the seven sacraments, the sacrificial priesthood and the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, flout fundamental moral precepts and condone abominable violations of the natural law, including abortion and sodomy, which cry out to Heaven for divine retribution.

         “And above all, let’s pretend that Catholics are just as blameworthy as Lutherans – if not more so! – for ‘divisions between the one true Church founded by God Incarnate’ and the ever-more-corrupt and ridiculous human organization whose origin lies in the rebellion of a maniacal, drunken, foul-mouthed, libidinous monk from a late medieval backwater known as Wittenberg …

  • “Nowhere is the Ecumenical Game of Let’s Pretend more apparent than in Francis’ prepared homily for this disgraceful gathering.Herewith some examples from the text:

    ‘As Catholics and Lutherans, we have undertaken a common journey of reconciliation.’

    False, Catholics do not have to be reconciled with Lutherans.  Lutherans must be reconciled with the One True Church…

  • “I could go on for pages more, but the point is made.The ecumenical escapade in Lund, like the ‘ecumenical venture’ as a whole, is a fraud – a fraud not only upon the Catholic people, but upon Lutherans who so desperately need the helps that only the Catholic Church can provide.” (ibid.)


  • “Why would a Catholic celebrate Martin Luther when his entire revolt was based on hatred of the Catholic Faith? … A central focus of Luther’s 1517 revolt was a full scale attack on the Papacy established by Christ … Upon the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the most sacred action of the Church, Luther showed vulgar contempt.” (John Vennari “The Diabolical Disorientation of Luther,” Excerpts from Should a Catholic Celebrate Martin Luther?, The Fatima Crusader, Winter 2016)

  • “Luther’s approach was ultimately a surrender to sensuality and worldliness at a time of moral laxity.

  • “The present ecumenical collaboration between Catholics and Lutherans is, in the words of Pope Pius XI, a ‘counterfeit unity, quite alien to the one Church of Christ’ …

  • “The errors of Martin Luther – and of the Protestantism he spawned – could not be more contrary to the beautiful Catholic truths reiterated by Our Lady of Fatima … It is thus impossible to concede that a Catholic should celebrate Luther in any way whatsoever.Only those of a Protestant and Modernist mindset will do so.Martin Luther must be neither admired nor imitated.” (ibid.)


  • I could give you more quotes but this suffices for our purposes.Please pray that the Holy Spirit will come upon the Fatima Crusaders and enlighten them.Thank you!



  • You should be receiving this edition of the Consortium Newsletter at the beginning of Holy Week, the Great Week liturgically.“During Holy Week, the Church celebrates the mysteries of salvation accomplished by Christ in the last days of His life on earth, beginning with His messianic entrance into Jerusalem” (Ordo: Liturgical Calendar 2016-2017).

  • This week is so rich and filled with grace to the hilt that I would like to offer to you a very powerful meditation/explanation from the Proclamation series (Interpreting the Lessons of the Church Year: Holy Week) by Reverend Patricia Wilson-Kastner, a writer, teacher, and Episcopal priest.Only certain parts are given below and not the whole text.


  • “The roots of the Christian celebration of the Great Week, that unit of liturgical time consisting of Palm Sunday through Maundy Thursday [Holy Thursday] through Easter, grow deeply in our Jewish religious ancestry.Passover is the celebration of the deliverance of the people of Israel from slavery in Egypt into the freedom of the children of God, as well as the context for the Gospel accounts of Jesus’ last meal with his disciples, his arrest, trial, crucifixion, death, and resurrection.Within this perspective, Melito of Sardis, in the late second century, asserts that ‘the mystery of the Passover is new and old.’

  • “Within the first four centuries of its life, the Christian community developed its observance of Easter from a one-day celebration of the paschal mystery to a week of intense liturgical observance of the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus.This development occurred as the Christian community connected its teaching and moral preparation of new converts for sacramental initiation into the ‘death and resurrection of Jesus’ with the liturgical celebration of the Pasch.(Pasch is the Greek word used in the early Church to designate both the Jewish Passover and the Christian Easter.) …

  • “The fourth century saw a substantial development in the Christian paschal observance from an intense but compressed sacramentally focused feast, to a more lengthy, dramatic liturgy, connected with a ritual re-enactment and remembrance of the immediate events surrounding Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection.Members of the congregation were not observers, but participants in the central mystery of the Christian faith, expanded in a temporal and spatial reenactment of the last days of Jesus’ life and the joy of his resurrection …

  • “The fundamental religious and theological character of the paschal observance remained centered on the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus, but the extension of that observance over a whole week enabled the various elements of the Christian Pasch to be explored more extensively with attention to the events and their meanings, and intensively, with time to probe theological and soteriological [‘the last-days’] dimensions in ritual, reflection, and preaching …

  • “The determinative action of God is thus not simply for those who experienced it in the past, but in the community called by God, it is present and available to us now.Christian liturgical worship is rooted and grounded in this Jewish understanding of God’s continuing liberating action, focused in and through the community’s ritual observance.

  • “We today, as we gather to worship during Holy Week, continue this understanding of ‘remembrance’; we are not simply thinking about something, no matter how important, that happened in the past.By God’s gracious love, we are connected in heart and mind and spirit with that past which is also our present.Holy Week two thousand years ago is also our Holy Week today.The daily preaching during Holy Week will want constantly to express this dimension of ‘remembrance’ or anamnesis.

  • “In the early centuries of the church, Holy Week’s liturgy developed into a drama with various acts and scenes, but with the passion and resurrection informing every action.The entire community participated in the activity, as the assembled community graciously sharing in the saving action of God.The two early theological traditions of the paschal mystery – the Asiatic, which centered on the Christological victory over sin and death, and the vivid expectation ofthe end of time, exemplified in Melito of Sardis; and the Alexandrian, which focused on the anthropological transformation from death to life, from shadow into light, manifest in such theologians as Cyril of Jerusalem – were both synthesized into the shape of the present Holy Week observance …

  • “Both because of its history and formation around the catechesis and imitation of new Christians, and the celebration of the central mystery of the faith, the preacher [and all other believers] will want to highlight the explicit connection between our baptism and sharing in the Eucharist, and Jesus’ death and resurrection.The epistle for the Easter Vigil (Romans 6:3-11) will serve as a beacon for the preacher [and believer] throughout the week…

  • “The observance of Holy Week is our greatest opportunity during the Christian year for a time of community reflection and renewal.The liturgical time brings us face to face with the key issues of life and death, of God’s creative and suffering love incarnate in Jesus, and our participation in the life and death and resurrection of Jesus – a chance to receive afresh the divine redemptive and reconciling activity of God in Jesus for us.The preacher’s service is to explore and to deepen that heart of our faith.It is a time for basics, with hypotheses and fascinating possibilities left quietly for another day.” (ibid.)


  • In this issue, we as skipping the section WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THE UNITED STATED TODAY?? What IS Happening in the United States Today and we will return to this in the next issue.


  • This means this present issue is considerably shorter than our usual or regular issues and this will give you some extra time you can use elsewhere.May I make two suggestions regarding this extra time? :

  • use the extra time to plunge yourself more deeply into the Great Week (Holy Week);

  • and/or use it to do some suffering (which would be reflective of the week) and offer it up to God as a prayer for President Trump, the White House, the new administration/government, and the American People – this is a very powerful form of prayer!


    May God grant you, your loved ones, and all those you are privileged to serve in ministry a life-changing Holy Week and may the Risen One superabundantly bless you at Easter!  Amen.
