John served in various parishes staffed by members of the Congregation of the Resurrection in Louisville and Bermuda.  He retired to Villa Pacis, Louisville, Kentucky in 1999 but continued to minister at St. Martin of Tours Parish, St. Francis of Rome Parish, Cathedral of the Assumption and St. Joseph’s Children’s Home for many years. He moved to Twinbrook Nursing Home in 2013 and then to Nazareth Home, Louisville, Kentucky in 2017.

Fr. John was a man of deep faith, hope and love.  Father John’s life of faithful service touched the lives of his parishioners, brother religious, and family during his life of dedicated ministry.  Fr. John had a great sense of humour and was loved by his students at St. Mary’s College.  He taught many students who later became priests and bishops.

Visitation and the wake service will take place on Sunday, March 14th.  The funeral will take place on Monday March 15th at St. Charles Parish, Lebanon, Kentucky.

Ever present and faithful God,

support us all the day long

till the shadows lengthen,

and the evening comes

and the busy world is hushed,

and the fever of life is over,

and our work is done.

Then in your mercy

give us a safe lodging,

a holy rest and peace at last.
